Passion for Markers Things with Wings

Our new challenge starts today over at a Passion for Promarkers with a great theme of Things with Wings as chosen by our lovely Marlene.  I've gone with a fairly simple design with this Stamping Bella image which I've fussy cut and laid over a print I made with this Hero Arts background stamp a while ago.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up and then I added a few dots of highlighter pen in her hair and some gold pearl drops for extra dimension.

Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Di's Digi Stamps who are offering our lucky winner a $6 voucher for their store.

You can check out the winged beauties of my PFM teamies here then I do hope you'll come and join in the challenge.

Spring is Coming Marianne Designs

It was lovely to make a spring-themed card using the February release from Marianne Designs.  I absolutely  love the new barrel die set.  I then decided to make a gift topper for the gift bags - I thought it would be nice to fill with mini eggs for Easter.  I've not brought any yet though as they wouldn't last till then!

Full list of Marianne products used below and you can also see a step by step guide over on the Marianne Inspiration blog here.  Don't forget to look at your older products too - there are often small dies in the sets that you can use - this is true for the clouds, sun, and die cut bows!

New Marianne products for January

I made this card today to showcase this beautiful flourishy, foliage die released by Marianne Designs this month.  I also made a couple of background mats use some leaf stamps that I heat embossed with translucent embossing powder and then sprayed with Distress Oxide sprays.  However, as you can see I then proceed to cover most of this up but still like the overall effect.  I do love the barely there oval behind the foliage which I stamped with Spun Sugar Distress Ink pad- it's so soft but gives a gently frame for the stem.

Full list of stash used below.

Rectangle foliage frame die - LR0788 -  NEW!
Silhouette oval background stamp - CS1123 - NEW!
Foliage Stem stamp - CS1117

Crochet Bags

I've been busy making these bags out scrap yarn (well initially) and made four before Christmas for presents and this one is my latest for myself.   I followed this free pattern here on My Poppet Makes and also got some help from FB!  They're a lovely thing to make of an evening as it doesn't take much concentration - the whole thing is worked in a spiral.  And once you get the pattern basics, you can pretty much make all sorts of containers.

The one above was for Harry and the one below for Emily.  As you can see these all turned out slightly differently!!

The one below was for Holly and I think I didn't follow the measurements correctly but it still looks nice with a pot in it!

And I hadn't intended to make one for Violet but she saw the first one I made and asked for it, hence the first one at the top of this post is my latest for me!!

Holly has asked if I could make some smaller bowl sized ones for her shop so watch this space!

Whale Card - Emily

This is my birthday card for Emily who loves the sea, water and dolphins and whales!  I made the background first with a bit of spritzing of distress spray pains, then added some Gesso through a Lavinia mask.  Added a few Lavinia fish stamps and then cut out the matt with a Marianne DL Distress Edge die - CR1569.

Can't believe my baby is 28 years old now!xx

Paddington Bear

I made this card for my daughter's partner, Jack.  I chose this Paddington stamp, partly because Emily had bought me the stamp, and also because Jack was running the toy museum.  Turns out he loves Paddington Bear and had watched the film on the day before his birthday!  Of course I knew that!

I've coloured him with Copics and just kept the design CAS.  And, I know his name is Paddington but I didn't have a rail ticket stamp with that name!

Got to do my tax return this week, so trying to get a few other jobs out of the way before I get stuck in!  Bleugghhh!

A Floral card today!

This is my card for my sister's birthday last week.  I made the background in a great online Eileen Godwin workshop which I haven't yet finished!   More inspiration was taken from the fabulous Chrissy Ballingal on Facebook here - love her style.  Do check out the wonderful creations of these two ladies - I think they create beautiful pieces!

I've used a Visible image stencil and gesso for the background with distress sprays.  I've then added the die cut flowers which are a Honey Bee Cone Flower Die Set.  The sentiment is from a PaperTrey Ink set.

I also made my sister a sunflower throw which I'll share soon!

Lavinia Lupin and Berries

I've been getting inky fingers with these cards using the gorgeous Lupin from Lavinia Stamps and following a tutorial that Tracey from Lavinia posted on social media - showing how to use the new Distress Glaze from Tim Holtz.  It's fabulous!!
I'm always nervous when getting inky fingers and often wonder how to get started so the tutorials are the perfect way to dive in until you grow in confidence with this way of making cards.

It's nice too as you get to do a bit of colouring - I've used Arteza watercolour brushes to colour Lupin here.

Have a great weekend.

Passion for Markers Traditional Christmas Colours

Ther's nothing like some lovely traditional Christmas colours at this time of year which is just as well as it is the theme chosen by my lovely teamie Sue for this week's challenge at Passion for Markers. There's also something to be said for a traditional image which this sort of is as a Gingerbread lady - Noel Tannenbaum from our sponsor this week, Colour of Love,

My papers are some Stampin Up pads that I picked up in a charity shop a little while ago - hole in the head springs to mind but I can't resist a bargain!  The Poinsettia and sentiment are both from Marianne Designs - details below.

Christmas Carol Sentiments - EC0198 - New and already a firm favourite!
Poinsettia Die - LR0779 a new this year die set!

As I mentioned, this week's sponsor is the Colour of Love Digi images and they are offering the lucky winner a choice of 2 images from their online store.

You can see how the DT have used their images this week here and then I hope you will come and play along!
