Colour Create No 63 - Lemon, Green and White

Hello - I'm back with our next challenge at Colour Create, and the colours and picture have been chosen by my fabbie teamie, Liz - Lemon, Green and White - lovely, fresh colours to get us all thinking of Spring and warmer days. And your optional extra is to use a charm.
27 January - Challenge 62 - Sharon L Lemon Green White
Isn't this a lovely, tranquil looking room - wouldn't be like that round mine, I can tell you!!

I don't really think of using these colours in my cards, but that's what a colour challenge is all about and I really enjoyed using them.  It also meant I could use the gorgeous Origins Papers from Basic Grey and enter the current Flower Power challenge on the Basic Grey Challenge Blog.  (The checked background paper is My Mind's Eye).  Now this little Tilda is meant to be a  Christmas stamp but apart from the holly in her bunches, I think she is great for any occasion so have masked the holly berries with a couple of pearls.  The little Hugs is from a bigger Cuddly Buddly sentiment stamp.

I followed the great circular  sketch over on Create 4 Fun from which my card evolved as I was going along!! Having rotated the sketch to suit my image, it seemed to need a little more and I remembered this technique I'd seen people use in blog land of edging your circle with a   border using a straight edge die.  I've done this with a Martha Stewart doily punch.  I've cut my strip and then snipped the opposite edge to the pattern at intervals to enable you to follow the edge of the circle, glueing small sections as I went.  It then still seemed to need more, so I copied a lovely idea my great crafty friend, Alex, used when we had a play day with her recently - wrapping thread or string around the edge  of her image.  I've used some glittered thread and wrapped it a couple of times round the edge of my layout.

The flowers are mostly from stash with the little crochet ones having been purchased only recently when I went to the Sandown craft show.

Our sponsor for this fortnight's challenge is The Rubber Room and I'm looking forward to feeling brightened by all your gorgeous and fresh entries for the challenge!!  Hop on over to the Colour Create challenge blog too, to see the wonderful makes from my fellow teamies and too see who won last week's prize!

To recap, my challenges for this card are:

Create4Fun - Sketch
Basic Grey  Challenges - Flower Power using Origins papers
