Friday Sketchers No 91/DU2DS

This is a card for one of my nieces for which I've used the latest sketch over on Friday Sketchers.  Not entirely happy with it but running out of time so needs must.  I loved the sketch too so thought it would turn out better - ah well.
DU2DS are asking for Pearls this week so I've used plenty of those in the middle of the flowers and on the corner.

Colouring - Copics for skin, rest Promarkers
Papers - Basic Grey, Papermania
Punches - MS round the page, Stampin up for Tag and mini flowers

A gift for my Super Mum-In-Law

Having seen these gorgeous baskets over on the Just Magnolia blog recently, I just had to have a go as I think they are just fabulous!!  This one is for my MIL's birthday who has always been like a mum to me (and we've lived togother for 20 years!!)  I followed this wonderfully clear tutorial over on the blog by Lene Katrine - thank you so much!!
I've got the day off work today as we're having a new boiler fitted and cannot do anything but craft, so I finished the decorating today having made the basket a couple of weeks ago.  Sadly just didn't have time to make it in time for the week it was the challenge.  Used the so sweet image, A Gift For You, from Sugar Nellie and K & Co paper for the basket.
The lace border was made with the Martha Stewart doily lace punch and the lace across the handle I made by punching both edges of a piece of white paper with the MS daisy punch.  I had ordered another punch which did this in one go but it still hasn't arrived!!  All the flowers are from my stash, and the main ones adorning the image are glimmered with Irridescant Gold Glimmer mist.
The little rose charm is from Quixotic Paperie and the rest is from stash, including the little hat which is some sort of bisque and has been in my stash for ages.

I coloured with Promarkers and used glossy accents on her shoes to make them look like Black Patent - every little girl's favourite (well in my day!!!).  Shame you can't really see it here.  Used Tattered Rose distress ink round the image just to give a softer, vintage feel.  Finally, I've filled it with some choccies in rose wrappers to go with the basket.  In fact, my MIL has a rose themed gift as she loves pretty, and green and pink together.   Do take a look at the tutorial and give it a go - it is so satisfying and I think a lovely, gift!!!

Sketch Saturday/Cute Card Thursday

Had to make a leaving card for a colleague of Hubbie's, and before I go any further, I should mention that he's got the right hump because he isn't listed as one of my lovelies or in my ten favourite things list from an earlier post!!  Aawwwwhhh, I hear you say!!  So just thought I'd give Nick a mention - he does make it into my top ten but he moves up and down that list quite a bit I can tell you!!  Anyhoo, he's a librarian, hence the theme for my Sketch Saturday, week 91, entry and as you can see, I've rotated the sketch!  I'm also entering this into Cute Card Thursday challenge 100 where they're asking for the use of metal ( eyelets).

Stamps - Crafty Individuals Clocks, Books - Magnolia, and I think the library card is by Heidi Swapp
Colours - Distress Inks
Sentiment - Computer generated - this is what they stamp the books with  when they're taken out of stock!!

Mo's Digital Challenge N-N-Nineteen!!

When I first read that Mo's challenge this week was so limited - white/cream cardstock, only one ribbon and no additional layers - I thought eek!!  But you know what, it was really very refreshing and actually, Charlie seems an ideal Mo image for this challenge!!  Defo going to make some more of these as they will be great for male cards.

I just bordered the card and the image with my Grey Promarker to give a bit of definition.  Ribbon was bought from Ikea a couple of Christmas's ago and the sentiment was a freebie, I think- can't remember!!  Coloured with my fabbie PM's all from the Cool Grey and Ice Grey families.

Thank you Dena!

Now that I know Dena has received it, just thought I'd show you the card that I sent as a thank you for the so lovely Tilda stamps that I won in her mini draw!!  They are gorgeous and I must, must, must make a card with them soon.  Anywow, I wanted to thank her for being so generous, so this is my card that went winging over to the States!  Fairly simple really, using the free My Mind's Eye Papers that came with a card mag recently. I love this gorgeous Sprout image, which I coloured with Promarkers.  Little flowers are a Stampin Up punch which I seem to be using a lot recently!  The sentiment is also made using Stampin Up punches and stamp.

I'm sure I don't need to say this, but go and check out Dena's blog - she is a fantastic card maker, and is on a number of DTs including Sugar Nellie and Just Magnolia - lots of inspiration to be found!!!

BLOOPER UPDATE!!: Oops - sorry, Dena, felt sure you  were on the Magnolia DT - you make so many fab Tilda cards!!  Anyway, you should be!!!!!   Simon Says and Colour Create are right though, right?!!

Mojo Monday sketch

This isn't how I envisage the card turning out, I expected it to be more muted somehow!  Still quite like it though.  Followed the sketch over on Mojo Monday, challenge 126.

And this is just to show you the easel part.  Where has this evening gone - haven't even done WOYWW!!

Papers - K & Co, Basic Grey
Image - Don't know, stamped it at Lesley's but coloured with promarkers and glittered with stickles and Copic Spica pens
Punches - Stampin up for the large and small flowers.
Pearls, Ribbon and butterfly from stash

OMG - I'm exhausted after all that hopping!

No card from me tonight - I've just been totally sidetracked by the fab blog hop on Mo's Digital Pencil!  Wowsa, the DT cards were fantastic and there's also one or two new images in there too!  The anagram at the end was making my brain ache but got it in the end and have now totally run out of time to make the card that I should have done!!

I heard from Emily today to say that she's having a fantastic time skiing, despite a cold, and is in the advanced group!  Yep, my daughter has kept me up to speed again! Actually, the more I think about it, the worse I feel about not phoning as I should have, but thanks anyway for all your comments - they have kept a smile on my face!!

Roses on Paper/Friday Sketchers and a Bad Mother!!

Well, I've had a great day crafting with my crafter in crime, Lesley, but before I show you the card I made, just thought I'd fill you in on what a naughty mummy I've been.  Well, not so  much bad mummy but all round poor reader of instructions, and the scapegoat for a mum whose child doesn't keep in touch with them!!  My 15 year went off on the school skiing trip yesterday, driving overnight to Austria by coach!  Anyway, Em texted me this morning to say their coach had broken down in Germany and it stayed broken down for about 5 hours!!  She kept texting whilst I was having a fab craft day, and they eventually arrived at the resort mid-afternoon!  All well and good you might think, but then the phone tree comes into play!!  Well, I had taken that with me today (good forward planning I thought) just in case there was an emergency, as that was what it was for!  However, they got there safely, so no crisis, right?  Wrong!!  Got home just after 6pm and eldest DD, Holly, told me that a teacher had rung to say they'd got there - well, of course!!  I knew that!!  However, have just now taken a call from a rather irate mother saying she hadn't heard and she'd been worried sick!!!  Look at the list and yep, I was supposed to phone my contacts to say they'd gotten there!!  I said, well, hadn't her daughter been in contact about the breakdown but apparently not!!  So duly phone the other two parents and their offspring hadn't been in touch either.  Gosh, I'm glad my daughter likes to let me know what's going on in her life!!  Now, I do feel bad 'cos I obviously hadn't read the instructions properly but what child doesn't have a mobile these days if you're that worried!!

Anyway, rant over and I know my bad, but did have a lovely day making tthis card for Roses on Paper Challenge 31, asking for Pink, Brown and Cream, and I used the sketch over on Friday Sketchers, No 89.  Used this gorgeous Mo Manning image again (second time this month, and other stamps haven't even had a whiff of ink!) but I loves it and it was perfect for the recipient!
And this is just to show you the easel.

Medium - Copics ( Lesley's)
Image - Mo Manning
Papers - K&Co, Papermania, DCWV Latte stack
Punches - Nestie Labels, EK Success for flowers, MS Deep Edge Daisy Fan
Tulle - From Quixotic Paperie
Card Candy from Craftwork Cards

I feel all of a fluster now!!

Valentine's Day

Well, here's my offering up to the Valentine's Frenzy!!  Not a great romantic as I said in my previous post and Hubby and I weren't going to bother with cards (see note re 25 years in previous post!).  However how can a card maker not pay homage to this day in our calendar!!  So, made this but it couldn't be twee or cutesy - even though I love this style, OH doesn't.  Followed the sketch (flipped) on Friday Sketchers and also the monochrome colour scheme of one colour and white on the Secret Crafter.  Hope the inking doesn't count, otherwise I have only used Red and White!!  There's also a whole host of Love/Valentine challenges going on at the moment so will enter it for the following:

Friday Sketchers - Sketch
Secret Crafter - One colour and White
Pixie Cottage - Love Theme
Pink Elephant - Mushy Gushy Valentine (who, moi!!)
Everybody Art - Valentine
Cute Card Thursday - Spots and Dots

Stamps - Autumn Leaves - Edge flourishes, Hearts - Penny Black and freebie from Craft Stamper mag
Papers - Basic Grey - June Bug
Sentiment - Tim Holtz Adage Ticket
CB Script embossing folder
Fired Brick Distress Ink
Rest from stash.

WOYWW - Where did that week go!!!

I'm back and a bit of a closer look today!!  Been making a Valentine's for hubby, hence the red paper.  However, he hates all the cutsey images and we're not particularly romantic  ( and we've been married for 25years!!).  Anyway, I really didn't enjoy making it  and don't particularly like it- will post it in a minute so you can make your own judgement!!.  In the background you can see a coloured image of Noble Tilda which I just love and have stamped her, using masking onto an Alota Chair which I have yet to decide the colour on and what I'm going to make with it.

And a few more shots of my room just to show that it's really quite a jumble!

Sugar Bowl Challenge 28

This is just about one of my all time favourite images and I just don't use it enough!!  So decided to hook it out when I saw the sketch over in the Sugar Bowl this week, with the added requirement of lace.  Lots of distressing and a mad rush to finish it  and here it is.
Had another of my lovely nieces in mind when making this who has always been mad on purple!!

Stamp - Sugar Nellie Cherub Charity stamp
Colours - Promarkers (including the lace!)
Sentiment - Autumn Leaves
Rosette- Blossom Nesties
Edge Punch - Martha Stewart
Heart Charm - Quixotic Paperie

That't it for now folks, and can I just say a huge thank you for the fab comments I received on my Grey card- I was chuffed to bits!!

WOYWW - Yayyyy Pam!!

I've been threatening to join in WOYWW and here I am, Pam! No cream cakes but a nice cup of tea!!  Looks reasonably tidy for me actually but have just finished a card for The Sugar Bowl which you can just see there and must upload it tonight before the challenge finishes!!

And a closer look as I'm the first to complain if I can't have a good nosy!!!
Just going to upload my card then going to do a tour of other's crafty working spaces - I love doing that!!
